So, moombahton has been marinating in all your ears for a good while now, and whether you dig it or not, it’s getting bigger and bigger by the day. Nadastrom, DC’s original pioneers of the 108 movement made up of Matt Nordstrom and moombahton creator, Dave Nada, have finally started a record label through which they will funnel all of the finest sounds of the genre. Aptly titled Diabluma Sound, the label is celebrating its genesis with its very first release, The Burma EP, being from hometown homie, Steve Starks.
Steve Starks will now be able to add such an honor to his already stacked resume, which also includes a residency at the infamously loud and underground superclub, U Street Music Hall; a monthly, must-hear collaboration with Nacey and Gavin Holland in Nouveau Riche; and the various hard-hitting, addicting singles released through T&A Records, Scion AV, and Get Right Records. The Burma EP has already received love from one of the UK’s leading men of moombahton, Brodinksi, saying, “This EP puts moombahton on an other level, new sound, new vibe. i’m just in love with it! Long Life to Diabluma Sound!” Boom. Listen to the sample of The Burma EP above and make sure you grab it when it releases on 5/22!
May’s edition of Moombahton Massive at U Hall will be celebrating the kick-off of Diabluma Sound as well as Starks’ release of The Burma EP! Make sure you stop by and celebrate with all the homies.
EXTRA: I did an interview with Steve Starks sometime last year. He’s definitely one of the most relaxed dudes I’ve ever met but he makes some of the hypest tunes in DC. Get to know him!
